Duration: Approx 2hrs 20mins
Don’t miss Olivier Award-winning OperaUpClose’s debut at Mansfield Palace Theatre this Autumn.
With a new English libretto supplied by Glyn Maxwell’s mischievous poetry, and featuring Alex Beetschen’s lively orchestration and Valentina Ceschi’s theatrical creativity, this production will re-invent The Magic Flute for an era of Trump and recessions, casting rays of light and love into the darkness.
Invited behind the velvet rope at London’s most exclusive club, Tamino doesn’t have time to stop for beggars, paparazzi, or even his girlfriend. Going to bed after a blazing row, this ordinary couple relive the events of the evening in dreams made extraordinary by the lateness of the hour, their befuddled senses, and yes, a touch of magic.
Sung in English.
There will be a pre-performance talk at 6.15pm, given by the director Valentina Ceschi. Places must be booked in advance when purchasing show tickets.
